    Medicare benefits for spouse

My spouse is permanently disabled and collects SSDI benefits.
He is currently insured by my employee health insurance.
I am eligible for retirement at 55, and may retain my employer's
post-retirement medical benefits (insurance) until 65.
However, I understand from my HR dept that my husband
is not eligible for my employer's health insurance because
of his disability, which makes him eligible for medicare
      upon my retirement.  True?
