The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) has designated July as National Park and Recreation Month to encourage people to get outdoors and enjoy our nation’s beautiful national parks.
From the shores of Maine and Alaska to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado to the warm beaches of California and the Virgin Islands, national parks offer something for everyone. As an added bonus during these trying economic times, national parks are offering fee-free weekends in July and August to provide affordable vacations for families:
A list of all fee-free national parks is available at http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparksbystate.htm.
There will be at least two additional fee free days at some parks:
National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 26
Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11
