A survey performed by TNS Global found that, while 60% of respondents under the age of 40 shared that they would participate in Cyber Monday shopping, less than 40% of individuals aged 50 and older responded the same way.
Ryan Washatka, president of FatWallet, which commissioned the poll, stated that these results are likely due to the internet savviness of young people as compared to boomers.
"The majority of younger adults are more digitally connected than boomers are, using emerging online marketing channels like mobile and social media to shop," said Washatka. "Cyber Monday offers the perfect storm for these shoppers and the record spending we've seen the last couple of years supports this."
